The Omnivore's Hundred

I don't often do memes, but this one seemed interesting.

A fairly obscure British blogger and author (of one published work) named Andrew Wheeler blogged a list he called the Omnivore's Hundred, "a list of 100 things that [he] thinks every good omnivore should have tried at least once in their life.. Even Wheeler has "no idea how this list became so widespread," but it has shown up a few times on my friends list, most recently posted by [info]joyfulkel.

Anyway, here’s what you to do:

1) Copy this list into your blog or journal, including these instructions.
2) Bold any items you’ve eaten.
3) Cross out any items that you would never consider eating.
4) Italicize any item you'll never eat again.
5) Asterisk any items you'd be interested in trying but have not yet.
6) Underline an item if you don't know what it is.

I haven't updated here in weeks... and although I've had things that I could update about, I just haven't felt like it. So, when I saw this meme that [info]cah215 filled out, I thought I would steal it... just for the sake of having something here. Maybe I'll make a real update sometime soon... yes, I think I should.

1. Grab the nearest book.
2. Open the book to page 63.
3. Find the fifth sentence.
4. Post this sentence on your blog along with these instructions.
5. Don't you dare dig for that "cool" or "intellectual" book in your closet! I know you were thinking about it! Just pick up whatever is closest.

What I like about the grandfather paradox is that it treats time travel not as some lofty excercise in cultural tourism—looking over Melville's shoulder as he wrote Moby-Dick—but as a petty excuse to bicker with and gun down one's own relatives.

--Sarah Vowell, in Assassination Vacation, referring to the Grandfather Paradox
